2,600 prisoners released by Buhari.

President Buhari had granted amnesty to 2,600 inmates across Nigeria correctional centres. The correctional centres popularly called "prison's will from today begin to decongest the prisons in lieu of the pardon.

The pardon is basically to those who have committed minor offences and those who couldn't meet up with bail conditions.

The Kuje prison in Abuja were the Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola will be officially releasing 70 inmates and 5 ex convicts. Other correctional centres acrosss the country will replicate the excercise.

The major essence of the exercise and decongestion was basically to reduce the spread of Covid-19, due to overcrowding in Nigeria correctional centres.
